Individual Specialisation Design (Workshop and Studio) At the beginning of your studies, you will choose between two profiles in design. The profile “Applied Design” covers a fundamental spectrum ranging from communication and product design to architecture. The profile “Artistic Design” provides intensive training in spatial design on the basis of various materials and techniques. This profile is also training to become a manual arts teacher at a Waldorf School. In addition, you can use the studio space on campus to continue to develop your own artistic skills and create your own art projects. Teaching at Mainstream and Waldorf Schools Special aspects of Waldorf education also flow into the content of the courses in art, art studies, art education and educational sciences. The degree qualifies students for preparatory service at secondary schools and comprehensive schools as well as for teaching at Waldorf Schools. Research-Based Learning The degree programme interweaves theory and practice. Throughout the course, you will develop an increasingly research-oriented and reflective attitude towards questions of practical relevance, e.g. art mediation or the art pedagogical self-concept. In the third semester, you will spend several months at a school under professional guidance and mentorship and will be able to develop the skills you have acquired thus far and test them through practical experience.
