In addition to its role as a fundamental science, biology has grown in recent years into a highly applied and multidisciplinary field, as reflected in concepts such as genetic engineering, biotechnology, biomedicine, and bionics.
At RWTH Aachen University, the study of biology goes well beyond the classical biological disciplines.
